# Nodes by Networks now counts reachable nodes

Nodes by Networks now shows reachable Bitcoin nodes, so its counts are lower than before and comparable with the hub's Node Map. Methodology version 2026-09-16.

## What's new

Nodes by Networks now shows reachable nodes, the nodes that accept incoming connections. The counts are lower than the all-nodes figures the page showed before, and they are now comparable with the Node Map on the Bitcoin terminal.

The chart lists Tor and I2P as their own rows next to the largest hosting providers, with every other network grouped as Other.

The series is available through the Newhedge API as `nodes_by_sources`, with a written definition on its documentation page.

## Methodology

Nodes by Networks takes the ten hosting providers with the most reachable nodes from the latest network crawl snapshot, adds Tor and I2P as networks, and files the rest under Other. Only nodes that accept incoming connections are counted. Earlier values counted every known node and are not comparable. Methodology version 2026-09-16.
